Kurt Angle Reportedly Telling Promoters He's Returning To WWE In April
The Olympic Hero could be back in time for WrestleMania 33?
WWE fans have been pining for Kurt Angle's WWE return for years. The Olympic Hero's departure from TNA appeared to open the door earlier this year, and while Angle himself has spoken openly of his desire to eventually return to the company, WWE are still to pull the trigger.
According to Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this could all be about to change. Meltzer reports that Angle has been telling independent promoters that he is not taking on any new indie bookings, as he's set to return to WWE in April, perhaps in time for WrestleMania 33 (April 2nd).
Angle will face Alberto El Patron for the very first time at WCPW True Destiny on February 12th, then wrestle Cody Rhodes shortly afterwards, but isn't accepting any dates beyond these two.
Meltzer does note that the reports should be taken with a pinch of salt, as there have been countless rumours of Angle's WWE return throughout 2016, but none have come to pass.
This is, however, the first time that Angle has specifically told promoters he's turning to WWE, which lends this particular story an air of credibility. Perhaps WWE fans will be seeing the six-time world champion in 2017 after all.
