It's unconfirmed, but The Wrestling Observer's Bryan Alvarez is "hearing speculation" that none other than Jelly Roll could be Danhausen's mystery tag-team partner at Backlash on Saturday night in Tampa. Alvarez posting this rumour on his subscriber-only X account, but admits he "can't confirm" whether or not there's anything to the story.

So, take it with a pinch of salt, but nothing is impossible.

Other names like CM Punk and even guest host John Cena have been thrown out there as possible fill-ins next to Danhausen for his match vs. The Miz and Kit Wilson. However, when you stop to think about it, Jelly could be the one WWE's creative team turn to in the end. After all, he was initially pencilled in for a tag-team bout at Backlash anyway before plans changed.

Before WrestleMania 42, Roll was set to team with Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton and Pat McAfee on this PLE. Then, McAfee decided that he was finished with wrestling due to the negative response his storyline alongside Orton received from the fanbase. Bowing out, Pat thanked everyone for their time and some great memories, but said he wants to focus on other things.

That nuked the planned celeb-infused tag, so this could be TKO's way of making it up to Jelly and getting him on the card this weekend anyway. There's no denying that Danhausen's work with Miz and Kit has been comedy-based anyway, so it wouldn't have to be a serious wrestler.

Besides, like him or not, Roll is better than ESPN's Stephen A. Smith would be in the same position. Is Alvarez right? Let's find out at Backlash.
