Pat McAfee claims he will honour a pre-agreed stipulation put in before Randy Orton's match with Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 42. In other words, the outspoken announcer turned manager says he'll leave WWE behind - he's done with pro wrestling.

Speaking via ESPN after 'Mania, McAfee told listeners/viewers that "the business doesn’t need to be saved after all". Further, he got to live out his dreams by working some matches, commentating on some of WWE's biggest shows and then managing Orton on the grandest stage.

Putting a bow on things, Pat added: "It’s been a hell of a run. Thank you, wrestling. It was an honour to be over there".

It's worth noting that McAfee has kept up the pretence that he's really injured since last weekend's festivities. He took an elbow drop through the announce table from Jelly Roll (of all people), then ate an RKO after running in as a referee but failing to count the 3 for Randy. On ESPN, Pat said that wrestling is now "rearview mirror" for him.

Not everybody is buying that though.

Many believe that McAfee will return to screens for a tag-team match alongside Orton vs. Cody and Jelly Roll. Obviously, the fact that Randy blasted him with a finisher at 'Mania complicates that, but there's always a workaround if WWE want to find it; Pat set the table for that by saying, "Maybe he didn’t know it was me. It felt like he knew" about the RKO spot.

If that tag bout is incoming, then WWE will get the ball rolling on build for it soon. Backlash takes place on 9 May in Tampa, Florida.
