Dr. Chris Featherstone is claiming that iconic pro wrestling announcer Jim Ross would like to finish up his career in WWE, not AEW. JR is currently still contracted to Tony Khan's promotion, but it's believed his deal with All Elite runs out at the end of August. Unless fresh terms are agreed, then Jim would be free to work anywhere he pleased.

It's important to note that Ross himself broached the subject of a renewal on his 'Grilling JR' podcast and said he'd be more than happy to stay put in AEW. He's grateful to Khan for sticking by him throughout numerous health problems, but Featherstone says there's talk behind the scenes that a WWE jump could be on the cards.

At time of writing, JR is scheduled to be in town for AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 this weekend. He'll commentate on at least one match during the pay-per-view, but it could well be his last one for the organisation before leaving. If that's the case, then he'd be available to talk terms with WWE and work something out on that side before eventually retiring from the industry.

Ross is widely considered to be one of the greatest wrestling announcers ever. To some, he's inarguably the best to ever do it. His soundtracking added significant weight to countless memorable moments during WWE's 'Attitude Era' creative peak, and there's just something that sounds right about JR finishing up with the group that turned him into a legend.

Obviously, this is all conjecture, but Featherstone's report is fascinating food for thought nonetheless.
