Extreme Rules 2022 might be relatively far away on the WWE calendar, given the promotion has two stadium shows to get through between now and then, but the event's poster has already started doing the rounds.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's Wells Fargo Arena will host the premium live event on Saturday 8 October. Conspicuous by his absence on the poster is the reigning Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns.

Becky Lynch is front and centre, flanked by United States Champion Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Rhea Ripley, and Riddle. Nothing is confirmed yet, but McIntyre is expected to challenge (and potentially defeat) Reigns at Clash at the Castle on 3 September.

Reigns' absence from the poster shouldn't be taken as firm confirmation that he won't be working the premium live event. Regardless, it's a possibility. WWE's biggest full-time star has been operating on a reduced schedule in recent months, having inked a contract extension featuring more favourable terms in May.

Initially, it looked as though the SmackDown kingpin may only be absent from select house shows and television tapings, though he has since skipped the Hell in a Cell and Money in the Bank PLEs.
