Mariah May is leaving AEW and is expected to start with WWE imminently, bringing an end to months of speculation on his wrestling status.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson broke the news, stating that May has been removed from AEW's website today, which usually indicates the wrestler in question has left the Tony Khan-helmed promotion and is free to work somewhere else. The outlet's WWE sources stated that the former AEW Women's World Champion is expected to head there in the near future.

Fightful Select, meanwhile, has published a more in-depth report with additional details, noting that there have been no substantial creative plans for May in AEW since her Hollywood Ending match with Toni Storm at Revolution 2025 (9 March).

May's management told Fightful at 1:30 PM ET today that Mariah's AEW deal hadn't officially expired despite her removal from the website. WWE sources have indicated, too, that she hasn't signed on the dotted line yet. The market-leading promotion had reportedly put "wheels in motion" to sign May, however.

AEW was reportedly aware that May would be leaving the company. From that company's standpoint, the biggest surprise, internally, is that Mariah was only on a two-year contract with no option years for the promotion to activate.

Mariah has not appeared on AEW television since losing the bloody, dramatic Hollywood Ending match to Storm on 9 March. There has been much speculation on her status since then, with talk of May jumping ship to WWE - which now appears to be on the horizon.

May, 26, debuted for AEW in November 2023.
