Naomi CASHES IN, Wins Women's World Title At Evolution 2025 (WWE News)
Naomi closes out WWE Evolution as the new Women's World Champion.
With WWE Evolution 2025 now in the books, Naomi is your new WWE Women's World Champion.
While Naomi was scheduled to face bitter rival Jade Cargill in a No Holds Barred bout at Evolution, her night ended with her taking home the Raw brand's top female prize.
As for that No Holds Barred match, it was Jade who ended up grabbing the win after hitting the Jaded from the top rope through a table. But that loss for Naomi was long forgotten by the time Evolution rolled to a close.
In the Evolution main event, it was IYO SKY defending the WWE Women's World Championship against Rhea Ripley. After a fun 25-minute back-and-forth, IYO reversed an Avalanche Riptide attempt into a Spanish Fly, which is when Naomi's music hit.
Once the match officially became a triple-threat contest, Naomi hit IYO with the briefcase, threw Ripley into the ring post, and then nailed SKY with the split-leg moonsault to get the 1-2-3. This marks Naomi's first WWE singles title win since her 2017 run with the SmackDown Women's Championship. However, away from WWE, Naomi - as Trinity - did hold the TNA Knockouts Title for 182 days in 2023 and into 2024.
As for IYO SKY, that brings the Genius of the Sky's Women's World Title reign to an end at 133 days, with IYO having defeated Rhea Ripley for that prize on a March episode of Raw. While SKY is one of the most popular and entertaining performers in WWE these days, that title reign was a smidge underwhelming. Yes, IYO's WrestleMania 41 win over Ripley and Bianca Belair was a genuine Match of the Year contender, but the Japanese star's only other title defence - against Rhea on Raw - ended in a double disqualification.
For Raw, the red brand now has Naomi at the top of its women's division as the new Women's World Champion, which also serves as a way to put some distance between Naomi and Jade Cargill, and allow Jade to turn her attention elsewhere - potentially something with Bianca Belair.
