New Day To AEW Now Considered A "Forgone Conclusion" (AEW News)
The New Day landing in AEW is now viewed as a "forgone conclusion".
While there has been plentiful speculation that the New Day will end up in AEW after deciding to leave WWE, that now looks more of a formality than ever.
Speaking on the latest SRS Q&A on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp said that, from everybody he's spoken to in AEW, the arrival of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods is now viewed as being a "forgone conclusion". Sapp added that there are a "ton" of people in AEW pushing for the company to sign Kingston and Woods, and that everybody likes them, everybody in wrestling knows who they are, and also noted the fresh matches that would lie ahead should the two become #AllElite.
Of course, the New Day likewise has plenty of previous with the Elite, going head-to-head with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks at certain gaming conventions, with all five - and Big E, for that matter - having talked up a 'dream match' at some point in the future. And now, with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, such a dream match is as close as it's ever been.
For those who missed it, Kofi and Woods requested, and were granted, their WWE release earlier this year after the company reportedly asked them to take a pay cut on the five-year deals they'd only signed last year. With the standard no-compete at play, it's believed that the New Day will become free agents in early August... leading to fans already speculating that the team will be at London's Wembley Stadium for All In later that month.
In terms of what Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are expected to go by from here on out, Kofi Kingston is likely to just use the Kofi name, whilst Xavier Woods is using his Austin Creed moniker.
