Adnan Virk's WWE departure may not have been the "mutual agreement" the promotion acknowledged it as.

Per the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, Virk's release was "a company decision":-

Virk tweeted soon after news of his departure broke, stating that "The weekly travel along with my other jobs was a grind for me and my family." The former ESPN broadcaster currently holds other positions with DAZN, MLB Network, and NHL Network.

It was reported prior to WrestleMania 37 that Tom Phillips was out as Raw's lead play-by-play announcer, with Virk taking his place from the red brand's 12 April episode. This reconfigured announce team of Virk, Byron Saxton, and Corey Graves lasted just six weeks until Adnan was let go yesterday, having struggled to adapt to professional wrestling commentary, drawing a broadly negative response from the WWE audience.

Virk was thrust into a near-impossible situation. Asked to learn an incredibly difficult role he had no experience in on the job, before an audience of close to two million people, he faced an uphill battle from day one. His effort cannot be faulted, though this will ultimately go down as a failed experiment.

WWE is yet to formally announce Virk's replacement on Raw.
