WWE plans on having The Usos become SmackDown Tag Team Champions by SummerSlam 2021, reports WrestlingNews.co's Paul Davis.

It was reported last month that Jimmy and Jey would eventually come together under their cousin, Roman Reigns, before winning the belts from a babyface tandem. The straps were held by two heels in Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode at the time, though perma-good guy Rey Mysterio and his son, Dominik, havie since taken them.

The Usos faced the Mysterios twice on last week's episode of SmackDown - and failed to win on both occasions. Davis states that they will keep feuding with Rey and Dominik through SummerSlam, with Jimmy finally buying into Reigns' grand vision and falling in line.

On Roman, Davis' source spoke of WWE's desire to build the Universal Champion into a John Cena/The Rock level force:-

“Obviously, the plan is to build Roman up so fans see him as being on the level of Cena and Rock but this is also about making Jimmy and Jey look strong and we will get there by SummerSlam. This will be a tight-knit unit in a few months.”

Reigns has been linked to a Universal Title defence against Cena at SummerSlam, which goes down in Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium, on Saturday 21 August.
