Ranking Every WWE Championship Reign Of The 2020s So Far
Every WWE Championship reign of this decade in order of worst to best.
When Buddy Rogers became the first-ever WWE Champion all the way back in 1963, he couldn't have possibly known that his title would still be the industry standard over six decades later. The belt has gone through countless redesigns, controversies, and crises since the days of the original Nature Boy, but it's still here and it's still going strong.
As the 2020s continue their terrible march, let's look back at the decade so far and celebrate the newest crop of titleholders. Well, we'll celebrate the good ones. As for the bad ones, they don't know what's about to hit them.
At the time of writing, there have been 15 complete individual WWE Championship reigns since the start of 2020. We're not counting Cody Rhodes' third reign with the belt, as that is currently ongoing. So, it would be unfair to judge something that hadn't finished yet.
As per usual, we're judging these reigns on how they began, how long they were, the defences the champion had, and how the title was lost. We've got some real classics here, so let's get stuck in.
15. The Miz (February-March 2021)
The real struggle with this entry will be trying to reach the word count, because The Miz's second reign with the WWE Championship was over before it began.
At the end of Elimination Chamber 2021, The A-Lister cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase he'd won from Otis to pin a beaten-down Drew McIntyre to claim the gold. Over a decade on from his first run with the title, Miz was unexpectedly back at the top... for about a week.
To get his grubby mitts on the belt, Miz had entered into a Faustian bargain with Bobby Lashley. The All Mighty had attacked McIntyre to soften him up for the cash-in. Now, Bobby was demanding a title shot, and the new champ had nowhere to run. To the shock of absolutely no one, Lashley beat Miz on the March 1st edition of Raw in a Lumberjack match. This very random reign was over in just eight days.
Miz's reign had to be at the bottom of this list. He didn't do anything bad with the title; he just didn't do anything at all.
