3. Roman Reigns' COVID Conspiracy

A large part of what made the end of WrestleMania 40 something that fans will talk about for decades is the sheer enormity of Roman Reigns losing the WWE Championship. The Tribal Chief's staggering 1,316-day run as WWE Champion made Cody Rhodes finishing his story all the more monumental, as wrestling's most dominant champion was finally knocked off his perch.

There was a moment when this title reign was in real jeopardy, with Vince McMahon deciding that Brock Lesnar should defeat Reigns for his title on New Year's Day 2022 at WWE's Day 1 PLE. On the day of the event itself, Reigns caught COVID-19 and the match was cancelled, with Lesnar instead winning the Universal Championship in a Fatal Five-Way match against Big E, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, and Bobby Lashley.

There's every chance that Reigns did contract the COVID virus. This was something that was putting all athletes on the shelf at that point in time, but there is a conspiracy that Reigns and Heyman didn't want their run at the top to end. What better way to avoid that than to duck the match entirely? It's feasible, but Roman would surely have felt assured enough in his place at the top of the food chain.
