Report: Adam Cole Has NOT Been Offered A New WWE Contract Yet
The latest on Adam Cole, whose agreement with WWE expires this month.
WWE haven't offered Adam Cole a long-term contract extension following reports that the former NXT Champion's previous deal expired last month.
Yet.
Per Fightful Select, WWE "obviously" plan on offering a new contract to Cole, who seemingly has an excellent relationship with NXT higher-ups. This comes after PWUnlimited reported that Cole had turned down multiple offers to re-sign with the promotion.
As covered earlier this week, Cole has agreed to work for WWE through SummerSlam 2021 weekend. His previous deal expired in July, though WWE officials were operating on the assumption that he was locked in until December. Cole agreed to stick around for a few more weeks before re-evaluating his situation. Whether or not he signed a short-term extension or is operating on a verbal agreement is currently unclear.
The new Fightful Select report states that many within WWE (including Adam himself) had hoped to keep this situation quiet, though some disagreed, believing the news should be leaked, given the increasingly competitive wrestling marketplace.
Cole, 32, has been with WWE since 2017. He is expected to face former Undisputed Era stablemate, Kyle O'Reilly, at NXT TakeOver 36 on 22 August.
