Report: Recent Weeks "Have Been Rough" For Jeff Hardy
Backstage update on Jeff Hardy, who was released by WWE on Thursday.
News that WWE had released company veteran Jeff Hardy broke on Thursday, with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp reporting that the former world champion had turned down the promotion's offer of "help and rehab."
While further details on the circumstances surrounding Hardy's departure are yet to emerge, Andrew Zarian spoke on the matter during yesterday's Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, saying that the 44-year-old has had a rough few weeks:-
"What I was told is that he's been really good. He does occasionally drink, but the last couple of weeks have been rough for him. Those are the words, more or less. I hope he gets better."
WWE had sent Hardy home from the road after he entered a "sluggish" performance at a house show in Texas last Saturday, then left ringside via the crowd after tagging out of the trios match he was participating in. Jeff was then replaced by Rey Mysterio for the following night's show.
Hardy's brother, Matt, commented on the situation earlier this week, saying that his younger sibling was doing "okay," but that it wasn't his business to go into further.
Best wishes to Jeff as he navigates his current situation.
