File this under stories you probably didn't think you'd read, but Fightful Select reports that Roman Reigns is locked in talks to play Akuma in an upcoming movie adaptation of Street Fighter. However, as the site also said, nothing is set in stone just yet - it seems negotiations are at a fairly early stage.

Fightful did ask around the movie industry to see if they could dig anything up, but details are thin on the ground about the project. They said they'll keep trying.

Deadline previously reported that Reigns, Jason Momoa, Noah Centineo and Andrew Koji were also in consideration for various roles in the flick. That's some fine company for Roman to keep in Hollywood, but Deadline said much the same as Fightful; sources weren't keen to pass comment on shooting details or even the film's basic plot.

Regardless, this would be a sweet role for Roman to bag in 2025, and it does make sense that he'd be involved in some sort of combat-heavy movie (if any). Akuma probably isn't the character that most would've had Reigns down as though, but perhaps it's best to leave that up to the casting agents!

Reigns Was Last Seen On WWE TV In April

Roman hasn't been seen on WWE TV since taking a kicking from Paul Heyman's new troops Bron Breakker and Seth Rollins on the 21 April episode of Raw. A vicious spear through the ringside barricade from Breakker and then a stomp from old Shield buddy Rollins appeared to write the 'OTC' out of creative plans for the time being.

WWE's writing team will come back to that once Reigns is ready to return, but it remains to be seen if he'll sign up for Street Fighter and start filming that first and foremost. There had been concerns about Roman's part-time WWE schedule amongst fans for a while, but it's doubtful he cares much about that.

The man's living his best life and doing things on his terms. Besides, Reigns would surely point to the high quality of his Bloodline storytelling since launching the 'Tribal Chief' character way back in 2020. That led to excellent matches vs. Kevin Owens, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, John Cena and more over the years.

People will be interested to see how Reigns fares as a regular member of the WWE roster without the Undisputed WWE Title around his waist. To that point, he no longer has Heyman following him around or cutting promos on his behalf, so Roman has a different dynamic to look forward to.

So, imminent WWE return or Street Fighter? Or both? That's Roman's call to make.
