Sami Zayn has described his WWE Title successor CM Punk as "a motherf***er" who had "no business" getting involved in the belt situ after months on the shelf. Company cameras caught up with an irate Zayn mere moments after he'd dropped the strap to Punk on Monday's episode of Raw, and the now-former champ refused to hold back.

He was working, clearly, but this was still one hell of a fiery promo from Sami.

Zayn captured the WWE Title with an emotional win over both Cody Rhodes and Gunther at Night Of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 27 June. Now, following the 6 July flagship, he's currently in the history books as a former titleholder not a current one.

WWE knew exactly what they were doing when they shoved a camera in Sami's face as soon as he came back through the curtain. In a short clip posted to socials and the promotion's official website, Zayn could be seen launching into a tirade against Punk before collapsing against a nearby wall and sobbing into his hands.

In post, editors even added in a censored symbol to hammer home the point. Sami is supposed to be outraged by the way Punk returned to replace Cody in a match lined up by Adam Pearce. What's more, WWE is guiding fans towards viewing CM as a Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania IX-esque 'ultimate opportunist' who selfishly only thinks of himself.

It's a cool story, and Zayn's promo heightened things. Go check it out if you have a minute and want to see some brilliant character work.
