Could Steve Austin lace up his boots once again to open up a fresh can of whoopass in a WWE ring? Maybe...

The last time fans saw Stone Cold was at WrestleMania 41, where he announced the Night 2 attendance, shortly after he'd nearly taken out some of the front row with his errant ATV driving.

Per Fightful Select, Stone Cold told people during that WrestleMania Weekend that he "might have one more in him", indicating that Austin - one of the all-time biggest names the business has ever seen - may well return to the ring for one final outing. This report adds that it's not known how the WWE Hall of Famer was feeling after 'Mania 41, but it certainly sounds like he was interested in one more match during his WrestleMania visit.

In terms of a potential opponent for any such match, Fightful notes how "a number" of talents have approached management in recent years about the opportunity of facing off with Steve Austin. Also, as one would expect, CM Punk was one particular name that's been discussed internally.

Fans have long viewed Austin vs. Punk as a dream match, and the men themselves have shown interest in that contest over the years. The two shared a fun backstage segment on a 2011 episode of Raw, while many remember the fantastic promotional video for the WWE '13 video game, where the Bionic Redneck and the Second City Saint sat down with Jim Ross to mull over the idea of what would happen should they ever lock horns.

Having retired at WrestleMania 19, Steve Austin shocked the wrestling world by returning to the ring against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38. While Austin was understandably not quite as fluid as he was in his prime, that match was a blast, with the two playing to Stone Cold's strengths and KO completely bumping his ass off for one of his idols.

Following that 'Mania 38 match, Austin was approached to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, but obviously that didn't come to pass. In the time since that Owens bout, the six-time WWE Champion has said how he wasn't entirely happy with his performance, and that he wished he'd been able to spend more time training for that return. So, will we see the 60-year-old Steve Austin looking to step back into the ring to one-up that WrestleMania 38 outing? That remains to be seen.
