The WORST Moment From EVERY WWE SummerSlam
11. Charles Robinson Tells You When To Ring The Bell! (2015)
SummerSlam 2015 was some show, at least on top. John Cena vs. Seth Rollins ruled, Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro was a fun ride, and Brock Lesnar's first match with The Undertaker since ending his WrestleMania winning streak in 2014 had plenty of gusto going in. It's just a pity they booked such an utterly baffling finish.
What was that finish? Well, Brock had ‘Taker in a submission when the ref began counting Lesnar's shoulders down. Charles Robinson had only counted once before the timekeeper rang the bell. As Chuck argued about it, Undertaker smacked Brock with a low blow and put him in his own submission for the tap out win.
Yeah, nobody really knew what was going on. It was so messy.
First of all, why did the timekeeper ring the bell without Robinson's say so? Second, Brock's shoulders kept coming up off the canvas anyway, so it barely made sense to believe that the ref was going to reach a 3 count. Third, the announcers acted like this was a mistake timekeepers occasionally made, which wasn't true.
On top of all that, it just flattened the live crowd and those watching the pay-per-view back home. 'Taker and Brock had been inching towards a dramatic conclusion right before this spot, but the ending counterproductively sucked any energy out of the match rather than adding to it. Hmm. Pat Patterson-style creativity this most definitely wasn't.
It was the kind of clumsy finish people once expected from WCW, not WWE, and it sure scuffed the ending to SummerSlam.
