Tommaso Ciampa DONE With WWE? (WWE News)
Tommaso Ciampa is reportedly leaving WWE.
In some somewhat surprising news, Tommaso Ciampa's time with WWE appears to be coming to an end.
Per BodySlam+, Ciampa's existing WWE deal is up soon, and the Sicilian Psychopath plans to leave the company once that contract finishes.
This report adds that it's currently unclear whether the #DIY man has decided against re-signing with WWE so that he can explore his options elsewhere, or whether it's potentially a case of him simply wanting to step away from the ring for a while without being committed to a new contract.
As it stands, Tommaso Ciampa's most recent match was a losing effort on the 19 December edition of SmackDown, where Ciampa and Johnny Gargano came up short against Ilja Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes. And while Johnny Wrestling was in action on this past Friday's Smackers - losing to Carmelo in a fun United States Title match - he was accompanied to the ring by Candice LeRae, but there was no Tommaso to be seen.
If this really is it for Tommaso Ciampa in WWE, it would bring an end to a ten-year run with the promotion, beginning in 2015 when he was paired up with Gargano as part of the NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. While the pair were not officially signed to WWE deals at that point, that would change early the next year, with #DIY becoming a staple of the famed Black & Gold days of NXT, be that as a tag team or as rivals. Previously, Ciampa had been briefly under a WWE development deal back in 2007.
In terms of success, Tommaso Ciampa is a two-time NXT Champion, a one-time NXT Tag Team Champion, and a two-time WWE Tag Team Champion, though many fans have been frustrated in recent years at how WWE has used Tommaso - and Johnny Gargano, for that matter - on the main roster when compared to the phenomenal work done by the Psycho Killer during those NXT days.
