WTF Is Going On With Swerve Strickland In AEW?! (AEW News)
AEW management SCRAPPED plans for Swerve Strickland heading into one of 2026's biggest events.
Self Made Pro reports that Swerve Strickland was pencilled in for a tag-team spot at All In 2026 over in London, England later this month, but those plans have seemingly changed. Technically, there's still time for Tony Khan to set something up before the 30 August pay-per-view over in the UK, but...nobody really knows what's going on with Swerve right now.
He hasn't wrestled for the company since losing to Will Ospreay in the Owen Hart Foundation Cup final at Forbidden Door on 28 June. That 35 minute scorcher was typically excellent for both men, but it hasn't led to anything meaningful for Strickland. In fact, it hasn't led to anything at all.
The former AEW World and Tag-Team Champ was rumoured to be readying something with Hangman Page before All Elite's Redemption show on 26 July in Montreal, but that was apparently put on the scrapheap too. Now, things have gone fairly quiet on the Swerve front.
De-capitalise the 'S' there and that's the kind of sentence you'd never have heard Vince Russo saying about 2000 era WCW.
Self Made Pro also recently heard that AEW chiefs fancied doing something "with him in Detroit", but he's unsure what came of those conversations in the end. For reference, All Elite visited the city right at the tail end of last month, but Strickland didn't suddenly pop into view.
We're closing in on a pretty major landmark event for the promotion, so it won't sit well with Swerve that he's missing it. All In will have plenty of eyeballs on it, so everybody on AEW's roster wants to be involved.
