Jim Ross is the greatest pro wrestling commentator of all time. The WWE legend has given drama to so many moments, greatly enhancing the narrative of WWE storytelling. Yet despite his obvious brilliance, WWE have on multiple occasions looked to get rid of good old JR. The reasons for this are baffling. The company first tried to ditch Ross in 2006, when WWE tried to sign UFC's Mike Goldberg. That deal never got done, with Goldberg sensibly deciding to stay with UFC. Instead WWE set about making Michael Cole the new lead commentator for Monday Night Raw. It went down in 2008 when Ross was drafted to Smackdown (by this point very much a B show) in favour of Cole on Raw. It was a terrible decision, made more unjust given that Ross had no prior indication of this - he found out live on air. By 2010 Ross was off the air completely and in 2013 the relationship with WWE was officially severed. To this very day fans still voice their upset at this - the best commentator in the business is willing and able but WWE prefer Michael Cole. What a shame.
