From @C17Swampy: With WWE creating new stars how many total top spots do you think the company should or can have?
The hardest thing about booking a wrestling show is finding enough time for everybody. With WWE building up newer talents like The Shield and Wyatt Family with guys like Reigns and Wyatt as breakout stars, it's a case of trying to fit them in with established stars without hurting others. As a result of the pushes of those new guys, some other recent heavily pushed guys like The Miz, Dolph Ziggler and Wade Barrett have fallen off the radar. Miz barely does anything, Ziggler is a guy that rarely wins key matches anymore and Barrett has been reduced to reading poorly written dialogue as a way to get cheap heat. The top babyfaces these days are obviously John Cena and Daniel Bryan while Randy Orton and Batista are positioned as the top heels. Other part-timers like Undertaker, Brock Lesnar and Triple H are featured in big matches at WrestleMania, but as far as the full timers go it's about those other four guys. The best way to book a PPV is to have three or four matches really carry the show, so that's usually a total of six to eight people. Everything else on the show just doesn't get as much time or matter as much. That's just how it is. Most fans would agree that WWE needs to do a better job of creating midcard feuds. Guys like Big E and Cesaro should be doing more. It's a matter of the creative team defining roles for those top guys, finding stories that are interesting and utilizing the rest of the roster the right way. In terms of the total top spots, I think the best thing to do is figure out the top four heels and faces, then work on down from there with others that you want to get at that level. That's how the booking should go.
