I'm a huge sports fan. I watch the four major North American sports (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL) very closely along with other events like the Olympics, World Cup, majors in tennis & golf and whatever else I can find to pique my interest. What do those four major sports have in common? An offseason. The NFL is my favorite, but the reality is that it's only on for five months out of the year. I miss it when it's gone. That's where wrestling comes in. When you watch WWE programming the one thing you know is that there's going to be fresh new content on television every Monday and Friday night. I'm sure there are some fans that think wrestling should take a break for one or two months out of the year, but that's never going to happen. There's more than enough talent on the WWE roster to keep the show going month after month. I truly believe that part of the major appeal of wrestling to the average viewer knows that it's going to be on television week after week. Obviously the other side of the coin is that no offseason leads to a writing team that gets burnt out, talent that is overexposed and matches that are repeated (how many times can we see Los Matadores vs. 3MB?), but I think the good far outweighs the bad.
