Lance Storm is part of the great tradition of expert technicians from Calgary, so it's no surprise that he imparts some of that catch-as-catch-can wisdom on his students €“ plus, from a match psychology perspective (more on that next), it generally makes sense to start out with some chain wrestling. Storm showed us how to cinch in headlocks, wristlocks, and the like in manners that looked painful but weren't, and the methods of body positioning that kept the match smooth and the crowd able to see the subtleties of what was going on. Even some of the more complicated-seeming holds are broken down by Storm until they become second nature. It's been almost seven years, but I can still reverse a side headlock into a hammerlock, a wristlock into a top wristlock, or get a drop toe hold out of a waistlock €“ but who's bragging?
