In the build-up to the 2003 Royal Rumble, Chris Jericho was on a mission to prove to everybody that he wasn't a wannabe Shawn Michaels, but that he was the first Chris Jericho. Determined to outdo Michaels' achievements and prove he was better than his one-time idol, Jericho saw the Royal Rumble as the perfect opportunity to make a statement. Even though HBK would have the coveted #1 spot in the '03 Rumble, Jericho would be #2. Hit the music, hit the pyro, hit the familiar Jericho pose at the top of the stage. Sadly for Michaels, this was actually Christian, with Jericho sneaking in through the back door, attacking Michaels with a steel chair and tossing the Heartbreak Kid over the top rope. All was looking good for a Jericho win, until Shawn Michaels would return later in the match and attack Y2J, allowing Test to eliminate the Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rollah. Jericho and Michaels would go on to settle their score, not to mention steal the show, at Wrestlemania 19 later that year.
