WWE: 5 Pairings To Augment The Tag Team Division

By Scott Carlson /

1. Zach Ryder And Dolph Ziggler

Putting Ziggler in a tag team seems like a huge demotion for a guy who was World Heavyweight Champion less than a year ago. But for the past few months, he€™s been barely treading water, and the first-round exit from the IC Title tournament last week might be a new low. Ryder and Ziggler have an interesting history: Ryder beat Ziggler for the U.S. Championship in 2012 and Ziggler appeared several times on Z! True Long Island Stories. Both are €œinternet darlings€ who have a devoted fan base (although Ryder€™s is dwindling fast) who would love for a reason to cheer both guys. If WWE is convinced that neither is destined for singles stardom, then let them pair up and make a run at the Tag Team titles. There doesn€™t have to be a huge, convoluted reason for them to team up. Both lose more than they win, so it€™s easy to see eye-to-eye on that shared experience and team up. There have been rumors that the two of them and the Miz were going to team up, but creating a stable of under-utilized guys seems too much like the J.O.B. Squad 2014. Plus, Miz just isn€™t as popular as WWE would like to think. Ryder and Ziggler, however, still get a good reaction, and they could provide some excitement in the tag division. Besides, a few wins over Los Matadores and Rybaxel is far better than jobbing to debuting NXT stars. And we're not far from seeing Ziggler tapping out to Alexander Rusev's Accolade.
