WWE: 5 Returns That Rocked And 5 That Fizzled

By Scott Keith /

4. X-Pac (1998)

All things considered, this was quite the promotion for the former 1-2-3 Kid. After spending his final months in the WWF as the guy that Shawn Michaels and the Clique kept around because they liked to laugh at him while he puked on himself (according to Jim Cornette), Sean Waltman drastically reinvented himself in WCW. Going from high flyer to weasel smart-mouthed heel boosted his stock immensely and dramatically lengthened his career path, and after getting fired due to neck injury in late 97 he made his return back to the WWF in 1998 the night after Wrestlemania 14. You may have heard Vince McMahon brag about the ratings win that this led to on a few different documentaries, and I€™m not saying it was entirely Waltman€™s doing, but I€™m not NOT saying that either. OK, I€™m not actually saying that, that would be pretty stupid. But X-Pac had a pretty good run as a key member of D-X and won some titles before annoying everyone later on and winding up with personal adventures in sex tapes and rehab. But man, that one return promo, so awesome.
