This year's Showcase of Immortals is going to be unique, that's for sure...

The 36th annual WrestleMania is shaping up to be the most unique incarnation of the iconic sports-entertainment extravaganza in history. Not only will it mark the first time 'Mania doesn't take place in front of a live audience, the event will also air across two nights.

Without the constrictions of a single live broadcast, the-powers-that-be have the chance to be a little more, well, creative with the match card. As it stands, the event will feature 13 matches but, according to PWInsider's Mike Johnson, that number is expected to increase in the coming days as the company adds even more unique matches to the card.

“I was told to expect more matches to WrestleMania, believe it or not. I was told to expect some random sorta zany matches announced. That’s what I was told earlier today.”

Take from that what you will but the idea of 'random' and 'zany' matches certainly doesn't seem too far out-there considering the unique type of event this will be. After all, we have Edge vs. Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match, while John Cena's showdown with 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt is expected to have a movie-like feel to it. And now we have a Boneyard Match between The Undertaker and AJ Styles... whatever that means.

Yes, it seems that the creative team is planning on throwing everything at the wall just to see what sticks, but with the Intercontinental Championship yet to receive a place on the card and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship match yet to be finalised, one can only wonder what 'random' and 'zany' ideas WWE has planned for them.

Ring of Fire match, anyone?
