WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Jan 11)

By Andrew Soucek /

6. Welcome Back!

A new era for TNA began this week. It was the 37th new era in their existence actually. And like every era before that, this one feels exactly the same. But let€™s be positive for just a moment. The opening video was maybe the coolest thing the company has ever produced, it was a nice surprise to have Awesome Kong back, and Josh Matthews is an instant upgrade over Mike Tenay. Though this may be largely because Tenay has been the voice of a lousy product for so long. How long does that give Josh then? Unfortunately, the same nonsense that has held TNA back since 2002 is still in place. Samoa Joe and Low Ki are two of the best all-around wrestlers in the company. These are two guys who should be highlighted as standouts that you can€™t find in WWE. First off, Ki lost his X-Division title earlier in the night to little fanfare, and then later the two apparently turned heel in one of the most half-assed turns in recent memory. They wore masks out to the ring, removed them, and then were run off by Eric Young who then turned heel himself. Sure, it was some sort of plan, but why are Joe and Ki taking a backseat to Eric Young?A show with an overbooked finish, an inconsequential title change, multiple heel turns, a clown, and a half-empty crowd? Some things never change.
