WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Nov 16)

2. A Cat Comes To Raw

Some things in life you need to take a wait-and-see approach. Having a real life cat guest star on Monday Night Raw is not one of those instances. This is a stupid idea. It€™s one of those ideas that WWE has where they think by appealing to a different demographic that they will create some new fans. That doesn€™t work. How many fans did Kathy Lee Gifford bring in? Jerry Springer? NeNe Leakes? Robocop? Now, WWE is going to build multiple segments (likely) next week that revolve around an internet meme. "WWE's mission is to put smiles on people's faces €“ and now we will attempt the same with Grumpy Cat," said WWE Chief Brand Officer, Stephanie McMahon. "We are going to do everything in our power to make sure she has a good time." Stephanie€™s quote is a big part of the problem. This €œsmiles on people€™s faces€ stuff. WWE is in the business to promote fights, and make people want to pay money to see a winner and a loser. This extra stuff is just damaging the company. Anyone who tunes in just to see an unhappy cat isn€™t going to tune in the week the cat isn€™t there. But diehard fans who tune in to see wrestling are going to be turned off, and perhaps tune out because of watching a cat. So in 2014, we€™ve had Scooby Doo and Grumpy Cat on Raw. It can€™t get any worse, can it? How far off are we from having a Twix Bar host Raw? How about a tube of toothpaste?
