WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Sept 27)

By Andrew Soucek /

1. Oh. It€™s Kane

You just can€™t keep doing this WWE. Kane as a top star is no longer interesting. It hasn€™t been since...I don€™t know, 2004? Whether he€™s gone for a month or a year, it€™s not going to matter. Nobody believed Kane in the role of a legitimate title contender at Extreme Rules 2014. No one was excited for John Cena vs. Kane in the main event of Elimination Chamber 2012. At Hell in a Cell 2010 he closed out the night against The Undertaker and no one cared. In 2017, he will likely main event a show against Sami Zayn at The Royal Rumble. In 2020, he will fight Apollo Crews at Breakdown for the WWE Title. It will not be good. Instead of trying someone new in the role of potential main-eventer, they keep coming back to (deep, bored sigh) Kane. But before he gets a big push once more, we most recently saw him jobbing out time and time and time again. WWE puts a mask on him, and expects us to take him seriously AGAIN. It doesn€™t work that way. Our memories are better than that, and we€™ve seen this before. On TV this year The Big Red Jobber has gone 9-32 in singles and tag matches. That is Fandango win/loss territory! Seriously, Fandango would be more interesting than Kane, because it would at least be something new. It would also be giving someone else a chance. Kane peaked years ago, but there is an entire roster of wrestlers with an undetermined untapped upside, but WWE won€™t even try. Why? Are they afraid of possibly stopping this ratings free fall? Vince McMahon broke the glass case and brought Sting back for Night of Champions. While Stinger is 56, you could argue that at least him fighting Seth is interesting. Kane and Seth is not. Their constant bickering for months wasn€™t entertaining television, and it didn€™t get anyone over. This is like WCW keeping Sid Vicious, Lex Luger and Kevin Nash as top guys in the year 2000 when people were desperately wanting something new. Unfortunately, Kane is seven years older than any of those guys were at that time. It€™s been fun Glen, but we€™re ready to move on. Time to kick out.
