Kevin Owens will challenge Roman Reigns for the Bloodline leader's Undisputed WWE Universal Title at Royal Rumble 2023 on 28 January.

WWE officially confirmed the match on Friday's edition of SmackDown - KO fired out the challenge, and Roman nonchalantly accepted mid-rant about how Sami Zayn let the side down by losing a tag match to Kev and the returning John Cena on last week's show.

This is a repeat for Owens and Roman. Previously, they delivered a thumping 'Last Man Standing' bout at the 2021 Rumble. That's memorable for taking place in front of the old 'ThunderDome', and for Paul Heyman struggling to release Reigns from some handcuffs.

Fingers crossed there are no tricky spots Paul E has to deal with here, although there is likely to be some interference from Zayn, The Usos and/or Solo Sikoa during this latest title blockbuster.

Reigns apologised to Sami later on SmackDown. The 'Tribal Chief' said sorry for losing his cool during the opening segment, then blamed KO for getting under everyone's skin. Then, WWE announced that Zayn vs. Owens has also been confirmed for next week's TV.
