WWE Bringing Back Classic WCW Pay-Per-View?

Don't be surprised if you see this old WCW PPV name on WWE television soon.

WWE recently filed to trademark classic WCW pay-per-view event Uncensored on 13 June, but...what does this mean for the future of the name?

This may have been a simple renewal from the company, because they previously owned the rights to pretty much all WCW trademarks after acquiring remnants of the group in 2001. If not, then it looks like Triple H, Vince McMahon or somebody in upper management fancies bringing Uncensored back.

It's possible that WWE will repackage the show title as an NXT special; they've done that with Halloween Havoc, but also presented old-timers like Starrcade as souped up house shows too. Maybe that's the plan here? Only time will tell.

For reference, younger fans should know that Uncensored was roundly considered one of WCW's worst annual supershows. The general gist of the event was "anything goes", which is clearly similar to WWE's own Extreme Rules format.

WWE hosted an Extreme Rules card last year, but there are currently no plans to do the same again in 2023. There's nothing on the updated schedule for it, at least. Perhaps Uncensored is a revived replacement.
