WWE Considering New Opponent For Edge At WrestleMania 37?
Edge vs. Orton was rumoured for WrestleMania 37, but WWE might changes gears...
Edge vs. Randy Orton (potentially for the WWE Champion) has been rumoured for WrestleMania 37 for months now, but it looks like the promotion is also considering another opponent for the injured 'Rated-R Superstar' at next year's 'Showcase of the Immortals'.
WrestleVotes reported the following on Monday:-
That Orton lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre on last night's show could nudge the rumour mill in this direction. There is still plenty of time for 'The Viper' to potentially win the belt back, of course, though several reports had pointed towards him and Edge fighting for the belt.
Edge defeated Orton at WrestleMania 36, then fell to his rival in Backlash 2020's Greatest Wrestling Match Ever. The 47-year-old suffered a torn triceps while working Orton in this bout - and his recovery is said to be progressing slower than initially hoped.
Edge and Bray Wyatt have never met in the ring, making this an interesting choice. 'The Fiend' has teased challenging for the WWE Championship in recent weeks.
The exact date of WrestleMania 37 is currently unclear. Originally scheduled for Los Angele's new SoFi Stadium on 28 March 2021, it has been switched to the Raymond James Stadium (Tampa, Florida), with WrestleVotes claiming the promotion is considering switching to 11 April or 18 April, as it hopes to have fans in attendance.
