WWE Debated Sol Ruca's Clash In Italy Title Shot After ZERO Wins (WWE News)
Internal uncertainty over Sol Ruca's WWE Clash in Italy match.
While she now finds herself as the new Women's Intercontinental Champion, there was some discussion within WWE over whether Sol Ruca would even get a title shot at Clash in Italy yesterday.
For those who missed it, Clash in Italy saw Sol defeat Becky Lynch for the Women's Intercontinental Title, bringing an end to Becky's third reign with that particular piece of gold. However, Fightful Select reports that there were internal talks about whether Ruca should get that title shot when she didn't have a single pinfall win to her name since moving to the main roster after WrestleMania 42.
Sol Ruca appeared on the Raw after 'Mania 42, where she lost to Women's World Champion Liv Morgan thanks to shenanigans from Zaria. After then becoming a formal part of the Monday night roster, Sol lost to Iyo Sky on the 11th May edition of Raw. Her only other match after that was a ropey two-minute DQ win over Becky Lynch on the most recent Saturday Night's Main Event, which is how she earned herself a shot at Lynch's Women's Intercontinental Championship at Clash in Italy.
So, Sol Ruca's recent record is three main roster matches, two losses, and one awkward DQ win. Added to that, she lost a Last Woman Standing contest to former tag team partner Zaria as part of Sol's farewell to NXT.
Either way, Ruca picked up a win over Becky Lynch yesterday to win her first main roster championship, and she's also been confirmed as a participant in this year's Queen of the Ring tournament, which kicks off on Raw later today.
