On paper, it was tough to be much excited about this year's Extreme Rules PPV, aside from the star-studded main event, of course.

However, WWE ended up delivering a fairly consistent night of wrestling on the whole, aside from two back-to-back matches you won't soon remember. In the very least, the matches with the most potential delivered squarely on expectations.

Yes, there were questionable booking decisions as per usual, but the main event in particular sets up an intriguing main event for the preposterously-named Great Balls of Fire PPV next month.

Plus, though hosting a PPV called Extreme Rules in the PG era is undeniably peculiar, at least most of the night's matches weren't left wanting for physicality, especially that fiercely-contested main event...

Rating: This was easily the most disappointing match of the night, as what should've been a hyper-competitive brawl was an inconsequential sprint that ended up essentially burying Bayley.

At least they got to the kendo stick quickly, though the pacing was surprisingly saggy for such a short match, and the unforgivably bad finish made Bayley look like nothing less than a jobber.

Yes, there's clearly some fan backlash against Bayley as evidenced by the crowd's reaction to her, but this should've gone much longer and been more fiercely contested. It made Alexa look strong, but the horrible booking basically overshadowed that benefit. 4/10
