Background: Upon returning to WWE for the first time in nearly two years, The Rock shows a different, but familiar attitude - he claims to be the biggest star in the world and says that nobody in WWE is at his level. The only reason he's back, he says, is to make WrestleMania a success as a favor to his close personal friend, Vince McMahon. The Rock gestures to the WrestleMania sign, but is stunned when he sees Sting standing on it! For the next several weeks, Sting shadows The Rock, both at WWE events and on-set. Finally, a frazzled Rock agrees to face Sting at the show of shows. The Match: Sting is a beast from the opening bell, showing WWE fans what he can really do for the first time. He no-sells The Rock's slaps, whips him from pillar to post, then presses him above his head before slamming him to the mat. Rock is cagey, though - he fights back dirty, then nails a spinebuster. He attempts the People's Elbow, but Sting scrambles to his feet and flings Rock out of the ring. The Stinger maintains the advantage, nearly pinning Rock with a Scorpion Deathdrop. The Rock turns the tide, though - he avoids a Stinger Splash by pulling the referee in the way, then locks a Sharpshooter on the stunned Sting. Sting reverses into the Scorpion Deathlock, forcing The Rock to submit - but the referee is still out. Sting breaks the hold to see what's happening, allowing The Rock to nail a low blow from behind. A Rock Bottom and a People's Elbow as the dazed referee regains consciousness put the match in the books. Winner: The Rock in 14:46
