WWE File Four New Trademarks
Are the company trying to avoid another Ric Flair/Becky Lynch situation?
PW Insider are reporting that WWE has filed for four different trademarks in relation to Bray Wyatt, Sasha Banks and Braun Strowman.
Wyatt's childish "Yowie Wowie" phrase has been requested, as has "Firefly Fun House". Sasha Banks' "Legit Boss" name and Braun Strowman's "Monster Among Men" moniker are also on the list. The Banks one is particularly interesting, because WWE announcers had been calling her "The Boss" instead of the "Legit Boss" upon her return to TV. So much for that.
All four trademarks fall under the "Good and Services" banner. This covers a lot of merch ground, like clothing (tops, shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies), outerwear, (coats), bottoms (pants, shorts, underwear, dresses, pajamas, lingerie, clothing ties, scarves, gloves, swimwear), Halloween and masquerade costumes, footwear (shoes, sneakers, slippers, flip flops, boots, headwear (hats, caps) and other merchandise items like wrist bands and bandanas.
It's worth mentioning that Ric Flair recently took WWE to task on Becky Lynch's use of 'The Man' nickname for merchandising purposes. This could be WWE's way of avoiding future issues that may arise if anyone has the same ideas as Flair.
