WWE Night Of Champions: 12 Major Talking Points
12. The Pre-Show Match Wasn't Anything Special
Five months ago, Neville and the Lucha Dragons debuted on RAW to much fanfare. Now they’re on the pre-show of major WWE PPVS/Network specials. All three of them deserve much better than this.
Then there’s the new trio of the Ascension and Stardust/Cody Rhodes, who call themselves ‘the Cosmic Wasteland’, yet there hasn’t been any storyline explanation for why they have come together as a group.
But I digress…
This match wasn’t anything special. In fact, it felt like a TV match, and was the appropriate thing to warm up the crowd as they entered the arena. Though the match did have some impressive spots, including the three faces doing outside dives at the same time and Kalisto reversing a Superbomb into a Frankensteiner, there wasn’t much else to it.
A big problem in the contest was Konnor consistently botching moves, and his movements looked stiff during the match.
But at least this match that had the right finish, as the heel team won. For them, that’s a major point because they haven’t won a major match since they formed. With this victory, they might gain some momentum going forward, which is crucial to their survival.
Hopefully they can turn this match into something more positive going forward, and maybe, if they’re lucky, they can be presented as a more credible team.
