Reports have come out in recent weeks that Alberto Del Rio's contract with the WWE is expiring shortly after WrestleMania. The rumor is that he would like to return to Mexico, and end his career there as a main event star. Del Rio was pushed strongly when he debuted in the WWE, and it was his destiny to become the World Champion. He went on to become a 2-time World Champion and a 2-time WWE Champion, in the short four years that he competed in the WWE. Over the last year or so, the Alberto Del Rio character has grown stale, and the fans are just not interested in his matches. His matches on RAW each week continue to be good, but the fans show no interest, and chant random names instead. During a match on RAW a few weeks ago, the crowd began to chant for JBL, who stood up from the announce table to take a bow. This infuriated Del Rio who went over and pointed at him to sit down. Del Rio had a well versed amateur background before entering in the WWE, which might have propelled him to the top once he made his debut. An NXT star with a well versed indy background, who can also be thrusted into the main event scene quickly could be Sami Zayn. He has competed all over the world, and his matches against Cesaro in NXT have been considered Match Of The Year candidates. He also gets the support of the fans as they chant Ole (in reference to his indy El Generico gimmick), unlike Alberto Del Rio.
