The entire pro wrestling world is talking about what happened to Seth Rollins during this past weekend's WWE Saturday Night's Main Event Special. There, the current 'Mr. Money In The Bank' appeared to suffer a serious knee injury that curtailed his match with LA Knight and forced the pair to work an impromptu ending.

Seth's knee issue will send shockwaves through the entire company and could detail a few major plans. However, there's also speculation that this is all part of some elaborate work between Rollins, Triple H and WWE's creative team. Both John Pollock from POST Wrestling and Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer have been chatting about the possibilities.

According to Pollock and Meltzer, WWE had been planning an injury angle for the match between Rollins and Knight as early as Thursday. However, Bryan Alvarez believes there's a good chance Seth was injured at some unspecified point beforehand, then Hunter went ahead with the angle to write him off television anyway.

It's far-fetched, but this is wrestling - nothing is off the table.

Obviously, fans and critics alike wish Rollins nothing but the best. Early reports indicate that he's looking at a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to this latest injury. Longtime fans will know that Seth has a history of knee troubles. They wrecked his first WWE Title reign back in 2015, and he was forced to miss out on the following WrestleMania.

WWE Lining Up Shock MITB Cash In?

Meltzer reckons this could play right into WWE's hands for an earlier than expected return from injury and shock Money In The Bank cash in moment. That was almost certainly the creative plot being schemed by writers anyway, but it now seems they'll have to pivot and delay things as much as possible.

The good news is that Paul Heyman can still carry around Seth's briefcase, and handy troops like Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed can wrestle in his stead too. WWE have some good options here; Heyman is a world class speaker, and fans are invested in the powerhouse antics of Breakker and Reed.

That could give Rollins the time he needs to recover.

Alvarez believes WWE will lay it on thick with Seth's injury and tell fans he'll be out for much longer than he's actually going to be benched. "9 months, or whatever". Then, if Meltzer's theory is correct, he can return earlier as a huge surprise and cash in MITB to become new WWE Champion or World Heavyweight Champion.

The plot thickens.
