WWE Raw: 10 Things You Might Have Missed (Aug 8)

10. 'Mr. America For President' Fan Sign

It's rather ironic that one of the first things shown during the 'new era' of Monday Night Raw this week was a sign harking back to a short-lived alter ego for Hulk Hogan. Standard practice for WWE dictates that they open Raw with all sort of pyro and testosterone, before scanning out over the live crowd to capture their collective excitement.

Along that journey for the cameraman, one fan could be seen by the entrance ramp holding aloft a sign saying, 'Mr. America For President'. Some younger fans may have missed this entirely, because it's not exactly uncommon for audience members to bring complete nonsense to shows with them.

In actual fact, this was a sneaky reference to the time when Hulk Hogan tried to pull the wool over Vince McMahon's eyes in 2003. Banished from SmackDown, Hogan returned under a mask as the comical Mr. America, fooling absolutely nobody in the process.

Talk about obscure, this fan sign was easily missed, but it's worth explaining the context behind this man's decision to bring such an item to Raw.
