WWE Royal Rumble 2018: 10 Suprise Entrants We Could See

2. Kenny Omega

Last year, rumours were rife that NJPW's hottest star would be appearing in the Royal Rumble match. In 2016, John Cena posted a picture of AJ Styles on his Instagram account shortly before the Rumble, and lo and behold, the Phenomenal One made his bow at the event. Last year, Cena posted a picture of Kenny Omega, which sent the IWC into a frenzy at the prospect of the Cleaner appearing in the WWE.

Sadly, it was not to be, and there's every reason to believe that this year will be no exception. Indeed, it has been reported that Omega has renewed his contract with New Japan, meaning that he will be with the company until at least January 2019.

However, rumours continue to swirl that the relationship between WWE and NJPW is becoming closer. Chris Jericho's appearance at Wrestle Kingdom 12 was apparently booked without Vince McMahon's approval, but then Y2J appeared on Raw 25 wearing an Alpha Club t-shirt. It's highly unlikely this would have been allowed if Vince disapproved of Jericho's appearance in Japan.

Earlier this month, it was reported that NJPW owner Takaaki Kidani was keen to share talent with WWE. Having Omega, one of the hottest wrestlers in the world, appear in the Royal Rumble match would not only boost interest in NJPW, but would undoubtedly be a huge talking point and get more eyes on WWE in time for WrestleMania. Truly, it's what's best for business.
