Batista's last appearance at the Royal Rumble was a disaster. In one of the most infamous moments of the event's thirty-one years, the Animal returned days before the Rumble and went on to win the match to a chorus of boos. It was a precursor to the horrific ending of the next year's event, and the first time the crowd really turned on the match.

Rumours have been rife for a while that Batista is keen on a WWE return. Despite being a successful Hollywood star, and a mainstay of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Drax, it seems that Big Dave's business in the squared circle isn't quite done.

An appearance in this year's Royal Rumble is by no means certain, but it would make sense, with shooting for Avengers 4 wrapping up and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 unlikely to begin production for a while. A short run for Batista (with no upsetting Royal Rumble wins) would be great for business, and could lead to the long anticipated showdown of the Animal vs. the Beast, before Brock Lesnar once again returns to UFC
