With the wrestling world still in shock at the news that R-Truth will be leaving WWE, some of the veteran's colleagues have shared their thoughts on this surprise development.

One of the most notable comments came from Road Dogg - a former tag partner of R-Truth's and nowadays a lead writer on SmackDown - who said he was "heartbroken" at this news. That came in an X post that's since been deleted, where the WWE Hall of Famer described this as "the part of the business that no one likes but the bean counters. I love Ron the Truth Killings and I don't care who knows it. WHAT A RUN!"

In terms of that run, Ron Killings was first signed by the then-WWF in 1999, initially sent to Memphis Championship Wrestling as K-Kwik as part of a developmental deal. By the end of 2000, K-Kwik would be on the main roster and teaming with Road Dogg, although that tandem would only last a few months due to Dogg being suspended and ultimately fired. For Kwik, he'd be released in August 2001 and would soon reinvent himself in the burgeoning NWA-TNA, where he'd become a two-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.

During that TNA stint, Killings would take on the Ron 'The Truth' Killings moniker, with that Truth element coming into play when he'd later return to WWE in 2008 under the R-Truth name. Remarkably, he'd remain with WWE for a further 17 years up until yesterday's news that the company has decided not to renew his current deal.

Below are some of the reactions to this news from Truth's colleagues, continuing the theme of just how much love the WWE locker room has for the former United States Champion:

The above comments are just a small example of the outpouring of support, thanks, and shock felt by some of those in WWE right now. This comes alongside reports of how WWE talent is in "disbelief" at the "ruthless" decision to let R-Truth go, with Fightful Select naming this as the most "criticised and universally disliked" exit they've reported on in the outlet's nine-year existence.

While Carlito has said that he himself has two weeks left on his current WWE deal, there's no word as of yet on how long R-Truth has with the company. Once those contracts are up, both men will be free to work for any and all promotions they choose, with no non-compete clause in play when a contract is allowed to naturally expire.
