WWE SummerSlam 2013 Roster: Where Are They Now?
10 years on, WWE SummerSlam's roster is leading VERY different lives...
Some folks reading this might be sick in their mouths when realising that SummerSlam 2013 happened a full 10 years ago. It's a card famous for Daniel Bryan's win over John Cena, then the post-match screwjob featuring a Triple H (who was special guest ref) pedigree and Randy Orton Money In The Bank cash-in.
People were angry at WWE for ditching Bryan's title run so quickly, but The Authority stuff was all part of a saga that'd eventually lead to the celebrated workhorse clutching gold as confetti fell at WrestleMania XXX. Looking back, things worked out well. Looking back, it's mad to see how different the landscape of wrestling is!
Nobody who worked the card has passed on, thankfully, but there has been career-rocking injuries and enough backstage drama to keep them busy. An entirely new wrestling promotion entered the mix too, and some of SummerSlam 2K13's brightest and best have fled to AEW seeking Tony Khan's creative freedom/focus on pure wrasslin'.
19 names adorn this list, but anyone accompanying the workers to ringside as managers etc is examined in these entries as well.
Let's get stuck in!
19. Rob Van Dam
Then: RVD was brought back into the WWE mix as a legacy attraction deemed perfect for midcard title bouts. This stint followed a lengthy stay in TNA, and Rob seemed thrilled to be back in the company. He wrestled Dean Ambrose on the pre-show at SummerSlam 2013.
Now: Van Dam still stops by occasionally, and was even inducted into WWE's Hall Of Fame as part of the 2021 class. More recently, he showed up on TV to announce 2023 Draft picks. The dude looked as tickled as everyone else by the blandness of that spot, but a gig's a gig!
Those screaming for a Van Terminator were left wanting.
