The Wrestling Observer is reporting that working Jey Uso a second time wasn't WWE's original plan for Roman Reigns at Hell In A Cell 2020. In fact, the company actively wanted to avoid booking that Clash Of Champions rematch before having a change of heart.

Instead, Roman was going to face Braun Strowman, Bray Wyatt's 'Fiend' and an unnamed (maybe undecided) fourth man inside the Cell on 25 October. Perhaps that final spot would've went to Uso anyway, so WWE elected to squeeze some more from their family feud on the pay-per-view rather than adding extra bodies.

It's a good thing they did - Reigns vs. Jey II was a tremendous piece of business and one of the best pure story-driven matches of the year.

A four-way effort would've been all action, but it wouldn't have had the emotion or powerful drama that Roman and Uso's one-on-one battle did. In fairness though, a multi-man would've still helped the Universal Title bout stick out from other HIAC matches on the same card.

The Observer also noted that Daniel Bryan is currently scheduled to be next in line for a crack at Reigns' belt. Bring it on.
