For just the second time in memory, a WWE women’s champion had to vacate her title due to pregnancy. Naomi surrendered the Women’s World Championship this summer, just five weeks after cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase to win the title at Evolution. The only other notable time this happened: Becky Lynch in 2020 surrendered the Raw Women’s Championship when she became pregnant. Asuka, who had won the Money in the Bank ladder match, learned afterward that the match was for the title.
WrestleMania is the biggest event on the calendar for WWE each year, with numerous smaller shows and events built around it, making “WrestleMania weekend” itself a major draw for fans. The host city is often announced well in advance. While the venue has been changed before (WrestleMania VII stands out), WWE has not pulled what it did this year before.
In February, The Rock announced on SmackDown that New Orleans would host WrestleMania 42 in 2026. Just three months later, WWE pulled the rug out from under the Big Easy and subsequently announced that Mania would return to Las Vegas, marking just the second time that WrestleMania will emanate from the same venue in consecutive years (WrestleManias IV and V both took place at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City).
