14 Craziest Things We Learned From House Of X And Powers Of X
7. Rebirth
Following the conclusion of House of X #4, it's safe to say that the issue was a traumatizing one for all X-Men fans. Watching some of the team's core members get annihilated was a tough read, especially when you know that Hickman is ballsy enough to keep them dead for a long time.
Luckily for us, that wasn't the case and the X-Men were brought back from their violent demise. However, the way the were brought back was definitely strange. Xavier and Magneto assemble a group of mutants known as The Five. This team, which includes Proteus, Hope Summers, Elixir, Eva Bell and Goldballs, utilise their powers to bring back deceased mutants.
How? Well, it starts off with Goldballs creating non-viable ball-shaped eggs. Proteus then turns them from non-viable to viable, Elixir turns the DNA obtained by Mr. Sinister into life, Eva Bell speeds up the incubation process while Hope Summers enhances the other four member's powers.
While that's certainly impressive, we find out that although this process brings mutants back to life, it doesn't restore their memories. This is why Forge was brought in to update Cerebro so it's not only a tracking device, but a memory bank which stores dead mutants memories so he can put them back into their newly-formed bodies.
We've seen instances where Xavier has used his powers to play god, but this is the most flagrant abuse of his powers we've seen for a number of years.
