10 Hollywood Actors Who Have Appeared In Doctor Who

By Dan Butler /

9. Toby Jones

Toby Jones guest starred in Doctor Who back in the Series 5 adventure Amy's Choice and, if you recognise his voice, then it's probably because you've grown up listening to him as Dobby the house elf. Yes indeed, the formidable Dream Lord was played by the same person who continually thwarted Harry Potter's desperate attempts to get back to Hogwarts and in Doctor Who he was getting up to all kinds of similar shenanigans (though not really, because no sorcery, flying cars or Bludgers were involved) by making the Doctor and his friends get to grips with reality by teasing them with a multitude of dream-like scenarios, purely for his own entertainment. He's not always the bad guy, though, but he does play them exceptionally well. His breakthrough role was as Truman Capote in the 2006 biopic Infamous, for which he won the London Film Critics Circle Award for British Actor of the Year, and his other cinematic credits include The Hunger Games, Captain America, The Mist and The Girl, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe award for Best Actor. A man of many faces, voices and even species, which is when you know they're the real deal.
